Gregory Lauer - Principal Horn
Gregory Lauer, a native of York, Pennsylvania, is the owner of Lauer Music Studios with locations in Pennsylvania & Maryland. Mr. Lauer is also the Executive Director & Founder of the Hunt Valley Symphony & Chorale in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Mr. Lauer also serves as Director of Music and Organist at Faith Lutheran Church in Hunt Valley, MD. Mr. Lauer has a B.A. in Music from Fairmont State University with the majority of his training received at West Virginia University majoring in horn performance. Mr. Lauer has studied horn with Dr. Virginia Thompson, Dana Metheny, Dr. Carrie Strickland, Beth Lucas, and Mary Bisson (BSO). He studied piano with concert pianist Paul Zeigler and Randall Yoder, and organ with Pamela Singley and Janis McCauley.
As a hornist, Lauer has performed with many orchestras, including the WVU Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Hanover Symphony, Fairmont Symphony, York College Symphony, and many more.Greg’s musical gifts have given him opportunities to perform in London, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Hawaii as well as across the United States including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He currently freelances and plays horn with several regional orchestras.
Mr. Lauer also has served as adjunct faculty at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Mr. Lauer has also had a successful and extensive career in the musical theatre serving as music director, conductor, and pianist for over 50 local and regional productions.
Mr. Lauer has had great success with his private studios with many of his students in piano, horn, and voice competing and placing at local, regional, and national competitions as well as auditioning for regional theatre's and performing groups
