Stefan Antwarg is from Randallstown Maryland and switched from trumpet to tuba as a high school student. In high school he performed for two years in the Maryland All State Band. He continued his studies as a music education major at Towson State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education. While at Towson State, his primary tuba instructor was Ed Goldstein. Mr. Antwarg then earned a Master of Music degree in tuba performance from Towson University while studying with Mike Bunn. In addition, he has studied tuba with David Fedderly and Scott Mendoker. Mr. Antwarg has played tuba with numerous area ensembles as well as in many freelance situations. Several of the groups that he has performed with include the UMBC Symphony Orchestra, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra, the Maryland Wind Symphony, the Harbour Brass Quintet, and the Potomac Brass Quintet. Currently Mr. Antwarg performs regularly with the Regal Brass Quintet, the Upper Chesapeake Wind Ensemble, and the Hunt Valley Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Antwarg is a band teacher at Southampton Middle School in Bel Air, Md. where his bands have earned superior ratings at area festivals and competitions. In addition, he serves as tuba instructor at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Md. As an adjunct instructor, Mr. Antwarg has performed on several solo recitals. Mr. Antwarg currently resides in Fawn Grove, Pa. with his wife and children. In addition to his musical endeavors, he is an avid photographer and enjoys many types of outdoor activities.
